"The object of Realm of Nauga is for the player to traverse three levels of dense forest to retrieve the Magic Golden Scepter for Pope Randis II. In exchange for the Scepter, Randingo promises one-quarter of his kingdom as reward. The player is warned that retrieving the Scepter will not be easy, as several monsters of increasing difficulty will be encountered along the way. To reach each successive level of forest, the player must find a doorway and the key that unlocks it. Throughout the player's journey several objects will aid in the quest, including a sword, a bow, arrows, magic potions, health potions, a rope to traverse trees, and a boat to cross water. After the player crosses the first two levels of the forest, he or she will encounter the most difficult challenge of all: the Nauga."

"Naugahyde is an American brand of artificial leather... Naugahyde is a composite of a knit fabric backing and expanded polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic coating. It was developed by United States Rubber Company, and is now manufactured and sold by Uniroyal Engineered Products, LLC, a privately held company. Its name, first used as a trademark in 1936, comes from the Borough of Naugatuck, Connecticut, where it was first produced. It is now manufactured in Stoughton, Wisconsin. A marketing campaign of the 1960s and 1970s asserted humorously that Naugahyde was obtained from the skin of an animal called a 'Nauga'. The claim became an urban myth."
